WHAT DID YOU SEE?
MAY 12, 2023
STAGE LOCATION:
MORRISON, OKL
This was a 2nd day of cyclogenesis across the southern Plains for me. Expectation was of a cluster of minor storm cells and some evening lightning to evolve near i35 in north OKL. Severe potential was likely, but the TOR parameters were Low. The prominent Low itself was centered up in Nebraska, and was the Show of the day area. Anticipation of TORS was high with an incredible arcing train of convection, associated with the vorticity of the Low's center itself, looking very likely to evolve. But down South here, some structure, hail, lightning, and welcome rain was the Game Plan this time, for me.....
So in coordinating with the news Team for a low-end severe event, I chose my local region being the NW Quad while viewing the Greater Tulsa region. We had 2 other news Team trackers out there as well, and we aligned north/south along east of i35.
While Nebraska was lighting up with tors, I was on the road by 3 but there was already a line of storms developed to the SSW of me and my expected Target area. This made me concerned with the notorious choking-off of storms while that line increased. When I found out another of my teammates was already headed for that area as well, I decided to go north a bit. I told him I had figured on Morrison or maybe the Wind turbines to the north, for the view.....
